About Ruthless

Ruthless is the kind of story that takes you on a journey and though you might think you know what is going to happen, believe me you do not, but you will want to take the journey. Angelia Vernon Menchan

Encouraging words to you from Sheila Goss

Start living in the moment and stop allowing life to pass you by. Instead of just existing, we need to live. We work so hard for things but do we really take the time to enjoy our loved ones and appreciate what we already have? Let's live instead of just existing. Life would be so much better for not only you, but everyone one around us.

  1. Hi Sheila,

I haven't read any of your work yet, but I do plan to. I recently saw Ruthless advertised somewhere. The series sounds interesting, like the sort of books I enjoy reading.

In reading at your bio on Amazon, I saw that you have quite a large catalog of books. How did you get started in writing, and is it something that comes natural to you?

Statistically, an author's chance of landing a contract with a major publishing house is estimated at around 2%. What advice would you give an aspiring author to keep the fires of hope burning?

Tell us about your road to becoming a published author?

Would you recommend self publishing as a viable option?

Also, I notice that you write across multiple genres. How do you keep from blending the genres?

I look forward to reading the answers to these questions! Thank you, Sheila, for your willingness to share your thoughts about your writing journey!

  3. Cathy Jo, here are my responses:
How did you get started in writing, and is it something that comes natural to you?
I've been writing since I was 9 years old. I decided to write professionally back in 1997 so I took workshops, read books on writing and publishing, etc. Writing does come naturally for me. I've been doing it for the majority of my life.

What advice would you give an aspiring author to keep the fires of hope burning?
First thing, I would say write. I hear aspiring authors say they want to write a novel but don't sit down and write it. Also, to not give up. Being in this business, you may receive a lot of rejections, but you can't let that deter you from your goal of being published.

Tell us about your road to becoming a published author?
The road wasn't easy. Plenty of research was involved, hours of classes, submitting to agents/publishers, received numerous rejections but I never gave up. My first book with a publisher was My Invisible Husband and that was back in December 2006.

Would you recommend self publishing as a viable option?
Of course. Writers have options. I advise the writer however to do their research to decide on which path that will work for them.

Also, I notice that you write across multiple genres. How do you keep from blending the genres?
I love writing in multiple genres because I'm an avid reader and I read in multiple genres. I write the type of books that I like to read. I don't blend because I only work on one book at a time. If I'm writing suspense, that's all I work on. If I'm writing romance, that's all I work on. If I'm working on one of my young adult books, so on and so forth.
