Drinking on the job

The day went on and Travon wasn't talking much to anybody and Zach and Stan were trying to figure out what they could do to pull Travon out of the funk that he was in.  Larry had left early for the day and we didn't hae anyone to watch us for the rest of the day.  I was getting ready to go over to Kinni's for lunch, like I did everyday.

Before I left Zach handed me twenty dollars and told me to go get them two twenty four pack of bud light.  I wasn't going to do it because if they got caught, I didn't want to have any part of that.  They kept begging and I seen how sad Travon was. I told them that I would stop at the liquor store on my way back but I was going to have lunch first.  I left and went over to Kinni's.  I left Kinni's, stopped by the liquor store, and picked up two twenty four packs of bud light and went back to work.

I got back to work, dropped the two cases of beer off to them, and went and parked my car.  I went in the building to get the afternoon orders ready to go.  They had finished all the orders and they had two hours before the next orders would print.  They started drinking and before you knew it they had already killed a cased and they were working on the second case.  They offered me a beer but I told them that I don't drink beer, but thanks for the offer anyways.  I noticed that Travon had loosened up a lot from the way he was earlier in the day.  I was glad to see that he was feeling better, but I knew that he was drunk and wasn't caring at all about what happened.

Making things right

Travon had enough of Kevina telling him that she was going to leave him; he started preparing himself for the break up.  After everyone had gone home for the day, Travon would come down to the office and talk to me about what he should do about his marriage.  Travon did not want to lose his family and I could tell that he really wanted to try to make his marriage work.  I wasn't mad at him for trying to make it work out, but at least he wanted to do the right thing.  Something most men don't know how to do.

I wasn't a therapist or anything but for some reason people always wanted to know my opinion and wanted my advice.  I told Travon that maybe he should try to do something nice for his wife and show that he really does love her and that he doesn't want to lose her.  He said that was a good idea and we started planning their romantic evening.  He asked me what my perfect date would consist of.  I told him that my perfect date would be taking a walk under the stars holding hands with the one that I love and just talking about everything, nothing in particular but about anything other than just work.  We would have a nice candle light dinner with some soft music.  After we ate dinner, we would dance a while and then go take a nice hot bubble bath together and just hold each other and remember why we fell in love.  After a nice hot bubble bath we would make lover under the moon until the sun came up.  Travon liked the sound of that. He told me that he would try it and see where it gets him and he would let me know.

Who is the new girl?

I knew that Travon and Zach were married, but Zach was a flirt and he flirted with everybody although his wife did anything and everything that he told her to do.  Zach's wife Tamara would come to the job from time to time to check on him.  I would always tease Zach and Travon about them being hand pecked.  They would get angry and start talking that I'm the man crap to me, but I knew the truth.  The first time Zach's wife met me she didn't like me.  Tamara called Kevina, Travon's wife, and told her that there was a new girl working up at the job and she is black.  Kevina didn't believe her, she called up to the job and I answered the phone. She asked to speak to Travon.  I transferred the call to him and let that be.  Kevina called about an hour later and I answered the phone again.  She asked me who I was and I told her, she said okay and said it was nice meeting me and then she hung up.

Not paying too much attention to them and their personal lives, they started talking to me as their friend.  We all started becoming close and it was like we were family.

Don't do office romance

Office romance is never good, and I didn't want to have another office romance because it started too much confusion.  I had already done that before and it didn't work.  I was not going to go back down that path, but you never know what God might have in store for you.

God had blessed me with a good job, and I was determined to stay with this job.  This had been the longest that I had ever worked at any job.  I had been working at this job going on three years and I was glad to say that I held a job that long.

My boss and I were hanging out a lot but there was nothing more to it than just that.  Yes he wanted to get with me but I wasn't going to give him more power over me.  I was the one that held the power not the other way around.  The first time I met Larry, I thought that he was weak but I was glad to have a black supervisor.  Larry wasn't much a supervisor and everyone ran over him and did whatever they wanted to do.  My side of the warehouse, ran well everyday because I had a couple of good workers but they played entirely too much.  I worked with all men and they were crazy all the time.  Two of the guys had wives and I knew wasn't anything popping off.  The other guy had a girlfriend and he wasn't my type.
